Child Find Public Notice
The Newfound Area School District seeks to locate and identify all children who may have an educational disability. Any person may refer an evaluation for a child ages 2.5 - 22 for reasons including, but not limited to, the following:
● Failing to pass a hearing or vision screening
● Unsatisfactory performance on group achievement or accountability measures
● Receiving multiple academic or behavioral warnings
● Repeatedly failing one or more subject
The child find requirements of the district also apply to highly mobile children, homeless children, and children who are suspected of having an educational disability even though they are advancing from grade to grade. Child Find also includes those children in grades K-12 who attend approved, non-public private schools within the geographic boundaries of the Newfound Area School District, regardless of where they reside.
Referrals may be initiated in a variety of ways. The Student Services Administrator may be contacted at 603-744-5555 ext. 8224. The Newfound Area School District Preschool Program (603-744-3221) may be contacted on behalf of children who have not yet entered kindergarten. For children who attend school in the Newfound Area School District, building principals or classroom teachers may be contacted by anyone wishing to initiate a referral for special services. Students in grades K-12 who attend private schools outside the geographical boundaries of the District should contact the district in which the private school is located in order to make a referral for evaluation.

The New Hampshire School Administrators Association honored five “Champions for Children” in Concord on Wednesday, May 21, celebrating individuals who make a difference across their communities.
The statewide Dr. Mark V. Joyce Champion for Children Award was presented posthumously to the late Tracey MacLean of Bristol, who was selected for her unwavering support of students and student activities in the Newfound and Plymouth school districts.
Tracey MacLean of Bristol photographed countless school events and activities for more than 20 years. She passed away unexpectedly in July 2024. A Newfound Regional High School graduate and Plymouth School District secretary, MacLean donated countless hours to capturing games and significant events, sharing her work freely with parents and the district.
MacLean was nominated by Newfound Area Superintendent Paul Hoiriis and district administrators, SAU 48 Superintendent Kyla Welch, and community leaders.
“Beyond her role as a photographer, Tracey was a pillar of kindness and encouragement. She knew every student’s name, their story, offering a listening ear and unwavering support,” Superintendent Welch wrote. “Her presence in the front office was a source of comfort for students and staff alike.”
“When there was a need, Tracey provided a way, never seeking recognition, compensation, or even gratitude,” Superintendent Hoiriis said.
Congratulations to the 2025 NRHS Scholar Athletes!
